Hi John, I have just stumbled across this website once more which I last accessed in August 2015 two years ago! I posted a message to you then and I just wanted to ask if you ever received it? This site seems a bit unresponsive but maybe that's me. Perhaps we could contact each other by email? I would be nice to exchange information. My father had quite a strong relationship with yours for the short period they flew together with 245 Squadron. You will know he was under your father as Fl Lt. and led the squadron often until he was shot down in June of 1944. He ended up in Stalag Luft 1 in Barth, Northern Germany until 1945. He was awarded the DFC (largely due to you father's recommendation). He died in 2008. I hope we can get in touch with one another, my email address is firstname.lastname@example.org I look forward to hearing from you, with very best regards, Ian Slaney
This is a very quick reply as I am very busy today, but I did wanted to reply as soon as I could.
Yes I know about your father and as you know my father flew with him as his Flt Lt. with 245. He had many kind thinks to say about your father and it was he who started the ball rolling for my father's DFC. I have a copy of the recommendation signed by your father which I shall be pleased to share with you.
We live in Amersham in Bucks, I am on Facebook under my own name, and my personal email address is email@example.com. We travel to Germany a lot and have friends and family there.
My father came with us to Germany on two occasions and I have many fond memories of times together. He died in June 2008. I was born in July 1944 but I lost contact with him for decades due to my parents' divorce only to re-discover him and another family, half brother and sister etc many years later as an adult in Pittsburgh. It was a very and difficult story however as.
That's enough from me, but I shall be pleased to tell you more of what I know in due course.
Please tell me a bit about yourself and your father.
